Leathers & Mesh

Full-Grain Leather
The outer surface of the leather, usually the strongest, most expensive part of the hide, can be smooth, shiny, or textured, and responds well to various waterproofing agents. While subject to nicks and abrasions, its general thickness and tight-knit fibers give it durability. Also referred to as a top-grain leather.

Pittards® Leather
A brand of premium top grain leather, Merrell uses a grade of Pittards leather (WR100) that is water-resistant and highly breathable.

Nubuck Leather
Full-grain leather that has been buffed to reduce irregularities in the hide. Responds well to embossing, pressing and various waterproofing agents. Waterproofing nubuck leather will usually result in a darker appearance.

Split Leather
Literally, the split side of the hide. Split leather is extremely durable due to the abrasion-resistant rough exterior. It's also the most affordable leather available. Split leather can be oiled, waxed and buffed (suede) to improve appearance and water resistance. Slightly looser fibers than full grain provide a softer feel.

Pigskin Leather
Wolverine® PerformanceT Leather (pigskin) is ideally suited for unique coloring. Pigskin leather is treated with leather protectors during the retanning and coloring process, offering superior performance against water and stains.

Reverse Full Grain Leather
Same as full grain, but inside out. The strongest, most durable leather due to its rough abrasion-resistant exterior and inherent thickness.

Aerospace Mesh
The Air Mesh used in the Primo Breeze mocs and slides is 100 percent polyester. It may be treated with a stain repellent prior to wearing but for most debris and dirt this is not necessary. The mesh can be cleaned with either a stiff brush or soft cloth using mild soap and warm water for spot cleaning. Let shoes air dry away from heat.
